Issue 3/2025 of "Przegląd Europejski – European Studies Quarterly” is devoted to the complex relationships between the media, the Member States, and the European Union in the integration process. The volume includes articles written in Polish and English, that bring together interdisciplinary analyses concerning current challenges facing the European public sphere – from combating SLAPP lawsuits and monitoring media services, through the public perception of the media as the "fourth estate," to media education, and the EU's communication with citizens in times of crisis.

The authors also address key systemic and political issues, such as EU constitutionalism, institutional reform, the influence of interest groups, and the Europeanisation of national constitutions. Broader questions are examined through case studies on such topics as Brexit, the accession of new member states to the EU, security, socio-economic policy, and international relations. The articles offer a comprehensive insight into the complexities of European integration in a rapidly changing political and media landscape.

Significant element of the volume are studies on German-speaking countries, with a particular focus on Germany and Austria. The authors analyse key political, social, and institutional phenomena, such as the evolution of German foreign policy after 2022, the success of populist parties in the 2024 European Parliament elections in Germany, the functioning of the German counterterrorism system, the introduction of short-time work as a response to the financial, pandemic, and demographic crises. These works are complemented by considerations on the social context for the sustainable development of universities in German-speaking countries and an analysis of the parliamentary-cabinet system with a chancellor, using the example of Austria.

The entire volume creates a multidimensional picture of European integration as a dynamic process shaped by media, politics, and society.
