The issue brings together studies in sociolinguistics, linguistics, cultural anthropology, history, and literary analysis. Sociolinguistic perspectives include examinations of the cultural logic of Akan proverbs about lying, the changing status of Igbo personal names under the influence of English, and euphemistic expressions surrounding death in Ewe. Linguistic analyses address vowel and tone processes in Ife (Togo), verb extensions in Ndendeule, and questions of literacy development in indigenous languages across francophone West Africa.

Historical and anthropological contributions explore early Islamic traditions in Ethiopia through recent fieldwork in Negash, as well as contemporary attitudes toward Zulu indigenous rituals among history education students. Literary studies highlight the role of oral Afrocentric storytelling among the Luo of Kenya and trace the evolving symbolism of garden imagery in East African Anglophone literature.
