This issue of „Baroque” features thirteen articles, a significant number of which are devoted to musicological topics. Readers have the opportunity to explore such topics as the role of Warsaw musicians at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries in the life of the capital at that time, the connections between the works of Kraków’s Rorantists and the epidemics that plagued the city, and the idyllic themes in Michał Kazimierz Ogiński’s opera „Conditions of the Estates”. Literary scholars and art historians also contributed to this volume: Marta Piłat-Zuzankiewicz explores the Western European reception of the Jesuit account of Dmitry the Pretender’s expedition to Moscow, while Mariusz Smoliński analyzes the stucco work from the church in Stare Chęciny, while Jacek Kuśmierski and Damian Makowski attempt to identify the specific plant species depicted in the decoration of a Japanese nanban-style table, which is part of the Wilanów Museum’s collection. The Articles and Dissertations section is traditionally rounded out by previously unpublished works; this time, we are printing a text by Maciej Pieczyński on the 18th-century reception of Karol Mikołaj Juniewicz’s ”Spiritual Reflections”, as well as discussions of the most interesting exhibitions, conference reports, and book reviews.
