Development potential in terms of world, country, regional or local economy should be described by analyzing the capital − resources or productive factors that a growing community should have. This book gives various possibilities for analysis. Through the indicator presentation it touches on all elements of capital/resources, i.e. the standards of living, and the potential for development of competence, investment, entrepreneurship, technological innovation, institutional capital, sources of financing, and the value of human capital. However, the results achieved through unconventional methodology can also be the basis for detailed research in all these areas, ensuring continuity of analysis.
The 2009 COMPETE Survey interviews with respondents from five small communities in Poland have been used in the research. The project was financed by the EEA and Norway Grants and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland.
