A day in the life of novelist Gubo. A study of the identity of the Korean intellectual

The author conducts a thorough analysis of the identity of the Korean intellectual based on three novels from the “A day in the life of novelist Gubo” series by Pak T'aewŏn (1909–1986), Ch’oe In-hun (1936–) and Chu In-sǒk (1963–), whose reflections allow the author to trace the situation of the Korean nation in different historical periods. She focuses on four elements of their identity: roots, memory, body and plans for the future, which has enabled her to prove that the identities of the writers of Gubo are living and dynamic structures, which undergo transformations under the influence of various factors.

Justyna Najbar-Miller – absolwentka warszawskiej koreanistyki, tytuł doktora nauk humanistycznych w zakresie literaturoznawstwa uzyskała w 2011 roku. W latach 2003–2004 doskonaliła znajomość języka koreańskiego na Uniwersytecie Yonsei (stypendium Korea Foundation), a w latach 2005–2008 studiowała literaturę koreańską na Uniwersytecie Kyung Hee (stypendium Ministerstwa Edukacji Republiki Korei).

Obecnie pracuje na stanowisku adiunkta w Zakładzie Japonistyki i Koreanistyki na Wydziale Orientalistycznym Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Do jej zainteresowań badawczych należy koreańska proza oraz przekład literacki.
