The main themes of the issue are the rule of law in national and supranational contexts and the functioning of the British party system in the 21st century. The theoretical article devoted to the first issue compares three concepts whose names have similar meanings (English 'rule of law', German 'Rechtsstaat', French 'état de droit'), yet their contents are not the same, having been influenced by differing historical, social and political conditions. The next text deals with the concept of ordoliberalism. The author compares the scientific positions of first-generation ordoliberal thinkers with three ideal models of welfare state social policy.
The second theme of the issue is the subject of an article presenting the evolution of British political parties and the British party system in the 21st century. The authors analyse programmatic changes, organisational changes and transformations of the leadership model.
The remaining texts published in the issue focus on: the right of EU citizens to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States, inclusivity in European transport policy, the problems of the ageing European population and the steps taken by local authorities to find solutions that would provide an effective response to this process.
