This issue of ‘Barok’ 57/60 (2024) covers a variety of historical and social issues in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 17th and 18th centuries, including the establishment of court troops by Prince Władysław Dominik Zasławski-Ostrogski and the influence of the Cossack elite on the formation of the Hetmanate system.

Some of the articles present and analyse literature. Poetic works are discussed, such as Stefan Jaworski's panegyric in honour of the rector of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Daniel Bratkowski's moralising poetry, Józef Bartłomiej Zimorowic's idylls in creative dialogue with the bucolic convention, and translations of Maciej Kazimierz Sarbiewski's odes. Two texts explore the content of prose writings: Jan Poczobut Odlanicki's memoirs from his trip to Yavoriv (the Ruthenian part of the journey) and Szymon Starowolski's sermons on the dispute between Archangel Michael and Lucifer. There is also a reflection on the place of Daniel Naborowski's works in the school programmes for the Polish language in the 20th and21st centuries.

Regular sections in the magazine include: Inedita and problems of ineditas, Exhibition reviews, Discussions and reviews, Reviews and notes, Chronicle, University of Warsaw Chronicle, Notes on Authors.
