The book presents socio-political and cultural processes as well as the development of the Catholic laity in Italy in the first quarter of the 20th century. Against this background, the author explores the biography of an eminent Christian benefactor Pier Giorgio Frassati and a selection of testimonies (Mercy, Faith, Character Traits), which document this stance. Presented in such an extended context, Frassati’s biography shows the impact of commitment to social service and its ideological message.
