The senses in the aging process

The publication is an innovative conceptualization of the issue of the aging processes of the senses. The authors describe changes taking place as time goes by, which involve sight, hearing, balance, touch, taste, and smell, as well as dental, orthodontic and phoniatric problems and the premature aging of the senses in genetically determined diseases. These topics are supplemented by a description of the anatomy and the aging of the brain and the senses from the perspective of psychiatry. The authors of the chapters are specialists from disciplines such as geriatrics, laryngology, logopaedics, ophthalmology, dentistry and psychiatry.

Beata Kazek – doctor of medical sciences, pediatric specialist, pediatric neurologist, academic teacher. Member of the Program Council of Postgraduate Studies in Speech Therapy with Alternative Communication at the University of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko Biała. Co-author of numerous papers published in Polish and foreign scientific journals, author of the monograph in English Neurogastroentorological disorders in autism, and co-editor (together with dr Justyna Wojciechowska) of the scientific series "Sensors in communication". Co-founder of CWR Persevere – a diagnostic and therapeutic facility for people with communication disorders, including autism, the Persevere Foundation and the Let's Help People with Autism Foundation (POZA), whose main goal is to create a Home for Adults with Autism.

Justyna Wojciechowska – linguist, doctor of humanities, graduate of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the University of Silesia in Katowice, assistant professor at the University of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko-Biała. His research and research interests are focused around the linguistic picture of the world of children and youth, as well as the sociolinguistic conditions of the communication process. Author of several dozen scientific articles, editor and co-editor of multi-author monographs, including (together with Beata Kazek, MD) scientific publishing series "Senses in communication". She gave dozens of lectures at international and national scientific conferences, was a member of their scientific and organizational committees. A member of the editorial staff of "World and Word", "Pedagogical Contexts", "Media and Society", a member of the Polish Pedagogical Society.
