The author analyses Polish-Lithuanian relations between 1991 and 2019. Their determinants were both old and modern history and the position of local minorities in the two countries. These factors influenced current policies of both countries, their safety and economics. The relations between Poland and the Republic of Lithuania were based on diplomatic activities undertaken by subsequent Polish governments.
