The issue presents eleven articles on the broad history of Spain from the early modern era to the 20th century. Spanish, Italian, French and British historians have examined such diverse topics as: changes in the agriculture of the New World after its conquest by the Habsburg empire, the relationship between medicine and the humanities during the Golden Age, the attitude of the military at the beginning of the Spanish War of Independence, the vision of the Battle of Albuera in 1811 from the perspective of its British participants, the installation of liberalism in Navarre, irrigation and agricultural policy in Spain in the 19th century, the corrida in its history in that century, the travels of Spanish monarchs around the country in the 19th and 20th centuries, the beginnings of Francisco Franco's career in the army, political violence on the eve of the outbreak of the civil war in 1936, and the Italian presence in the international Tangier in Morocco. Two reviews complete the issue.
