Negation in the Cognitive Development of Children Aged 7, 9, 11

The presented publication, written over 35 years ago as a doctoral dissertation, has been expanded to include an introduction outlining the role of negation in cognitive development of children in reference to the directions of research and analysis present in literature.

The development of negation is both a condition and an expression of the development of the child's cognitive structures which are a key mechanism for deepening knowledge about the world. Negation as a category of children's cognitive development is not a common topic of research. It is sometimes associated with the child's resistance and destructive actions, treated as a manifestation of immaturity. To this day, there is a lack of in-depth analyzes of the pro-development function of negation as a cognitive category.
