The economic migrations of women and their impact on the functioning of families
An interdisciplinary study of the causes and effects of the economic migrations of women. The author presents the economic conditions and the legal environment of the migrants, she portrays different experiences of migration and their effects on the families remaining in the home country; she also discusses the issues of the transformation of the family during the mother’s absence. Being employed at the margins of the job market constitutes a risk for migrating women and at the same time provides economic safety for many families in Poland.
