Note:
The submitted publishing proposal will be considered at the UWP Publishing College nearest to the date of its submission.
UWP Publishing Colleges are held regularly on Mondays. The publishing proposal will be forwarded to the editor-in-chief who will contact the applicant for agreement on details and further proceedings.

The VALUATION prepared by UWP is valid for 6 months.

 

WHAT ELEMENTS SHOULD INCLUDE A PUBLISHING PROPOSAL?

 

1. DATA ON THE AUTHOR / SCIENTIFIC EDITOR

  • surname and first name of the author / editor, academic title, ORCID*.
  • workplace and position held
  • information about the current author's achievements
  • contact details of the author / scientific editor
  • a list of authors of collective work with e-mail addresses

2. BOOK DATA

  • proposed book title
  • information about the planned volume (including illustrative material)*
  • *The volume of the work is specified in publishing sheets (p.s.)
    • 1 p.s. = 40 thousand characters with spaces (including footnotes)
    • 1 p.s. = 3000 cm2 illustrations (approx. 40 drawings in 10 cm x 10 cm format)

  • outline / table of contents (in the case of collective work with the names of the authors)
  • information about elements of publications taken from other sources (texts, illustrations, etc., including reprints, also own texts)
  • information about the number, type of illustrative material (photographs, drawings, charts, diagrams, diagrams, maps), colors (black and white, color) and format (full-page, half-page, smaller)
  • information about the location of the illustration in the publication (broken into the text or on separate inserts in one or more places)
  • information about whether the illustrations are ready for hacking, or if they require graphic design or processing
  • source (s) of illustration (possibly information about the need to purchase them)
  • planned indexes and who will prepare them: Author or UWP
  • planned attachments, annexes and all other additional materials (including external ones, e.g. Internet annex, i.e. what materials would complement the publication by the author on the Internet)


3. INFORMATION ON THE TIME OF DELIVERY OF THE COMPLETE PUBLICATION MATERIAL

The deadline for submitting a paper at UWP is the date of delivery of the last fragment of it together with all the illustrative material (this also applies to collective works) and from this date the deadlines for evaluation, admission to the publishing plan and publication of the publication apply.

6. INFORMATION ON THE SOURCE OF FUNDING THE BOOK


7. LIST OF INDEPENDENT REVIEWERS with email addresses and possibly telephone numbers. Please provide the names of 5 specialists in a given field, from outside the author's center, from which UWP will be able to appoint reviewers.

Pursuant to the Regulation of 07.11.2018 of the Minister of Science and Higher Education w sprawie sporządzania wykazów wydawców monografii naukowych oraz czasopism naukowych i recenzowanych materiałów z konferencji międzynarodowych (Dz.U. 2018 poz.2152), accompanying the Act of 20.07.2018 Prawo o szkolnictwie wyższym i nauce (Dz.U. 2018 z 30.08.2018, poz.1668), the publisher is obliged to carry out a thorough review process. The process of reviewing future publications that is in line with the requirements of the regulation is the most important criterion for assessing a publishing house and a condition for being on the list and remaining in the list of scoring publications in the future. Therefore, UWP does not accept reviews commissioned by authors or UW units.


8. NUMBER OF FREE COPIES for the purposes of the Author / institute / department / sponsor / institution granting the grant


9. MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTION

  • defining the group of recipients (professional, social group, etc.)
  • location of the publication on the publishing market: short information justifying the purposefulness of publishing the publication, presenting the subject of the work, layout of content, advantages of the book distinguishing it from others (innovation, substantive timeliness, etc.), justification, what is the superiority of the planned publication over existing ones on the market, an indication competitive publications (+ possibly their short description)
  • NOTE ABOUT THE BOOK with a capacity of approx. 700 characters with spaces, which will be used to prepare the text for the cover, informing about the merits and emphasizing the value of the publication.
  • NOTE ABOUT THE AUTHOR / SCIENTIFIC EDITOR with a capacity of approx. 700 characters with spaces, which can be used to prepare a cover text.
  • ABSTRACT (short summary) in Polish (+ possibly in English) with a capacity of approx. 500 characters and spaces.


NOTE: the information materials will be edited and their final version will be approved by the UWP Marketing Department.


  • KEYWORDS (5) in Polish (+ possibly in English)
  • suggestions for the promotion of the publication: events, events, conferences, anniversaries on which it can be promoted, letters and other media that could advertise it or place a review, potential media patrons
  • information on the preferred method of distribution of publications (sales, open access)
