Portraits from Krakowskie street, not all real
Portraits from Krakowskie street, not all real is a debut collection of poems and poetic short stories by Joanna Gocłowska-Bolek. This is a kind of a walk across Krakowskie Przedmieście street (where the University of Warsaw has its main campus). Showing the University and its surroundings, the author brings her readers into the more and more unreal and teasing world, deludes them and offers a subtle game of understatements and magic images.
Every step in the main campus, every walk on Krakowskie Przedmieście, every breath of modernity in Ochota campus fascinates, provokes, captivates. I wanted to show you exactly my intimate University, sifted through subjectivism, distorted by personal perspective, set in a wide space of surrealism and abstraction. (...) Every story is a little piece of myself, a particle of my own life, is very personal.
From the Introduction
Keywords: poetry, poetic prose, University of Warsaw.
