Freedom of Conscience of Legal Entities. Ideological Identity as a Personal and Constitutional Right
The publication analyzes the possibility of recourse by legal entities (hospitals, partnerships, societies, higher education institutions) to the guarantees resulting from freedom of conscience. The book aims to answer such questions as: Can a hospital as an institution invoke the conscience clause? Can a district council require subordinate public hospitals not to perform an abortion? Can a partnership seek not only profit but also promote certain moral values? In what cases is it acceptable to employ a person on condition of their religion? The author argues that, although legal entities do not have conscience, they may have ideological identity, which defines the meaning and direction of their activities.
