The issue is devoted to Enlightenment prose and the dominant reading practices of the time. The volume opens with articles on reading the Bible in a collective and individual perspective, Polish and foreign. Subsequent texts deal with political prose, eighteenth-century paratextual practices, and reflections on the origins of the Polish novel. The publication is complemented by some dozen reviews of recent scholarly books dealing with various aspects of Enlightenment culture.
