This interdisciplinary issue of the quarterly, titled Forms of Presence: Polish Literature in Italy after 1945, is the result of work by Italianists from both Italian and Polish academic centers. Employing a wide range of research perspectives, they reveal the resonances and rhythms of Polish literature’s existence in Italy after World War II. The collected texts form a rich panorama of interpretations and define the status of Polish literature and culture in Italy. They contribute to philology understood broadly as a community of spirit. The scholarly approaches vary in orientation and character, ranging from synthetic overviews to detailed case studies: the volume includes socio-historical perspectives focused on the role of culture and science in Polish-Italian relations, philosophical reflections, as well as reception, cultural, and translation studies approaches.
