Your Eternal Fire. Joseph Conrad and Polish Romanticism
The publication invites you to read Joseph Conrad’s prose in the light of new methodologies and in the context of current research on Polish literature of the 19th century. The author of the monograph attempts to identify threads and topics of Polish Romanticism in Conrad’s work in an innovative way. He proposes parallel and contextualized reading, covering wide circles of reception and scattered allusions. The proposed analyzes lead him to conclude that Conrad used references to Polish Romanticism in an extremely complex, sublime way, creating a kind of palimpsest.
Keywords: Joseph Conrad, Polish Romanticism, spectres, intertextuality, anxiety of influence.
