Loneliness of the soul. Heritage of faith and reason in (post) modernity
The author presents the historical and philosophical background of the disputes over the condition of European civilization in the modern era that took place in the 20th century. In this context, he analyzes the main threads of the discussion between the supporters of "faith" and "reason", the strengths and weaknesses of both positions, their inspirations and limitations. He tries to answer the question about sense of such dispute in times of doubts about the guiding ideas and great narratives. He also poses the question about the value of discussing the condition of the world and looking for ways to repair it in the situation of "liquid" reality.
Keywords: European civilization, faith, reason, modernity, postmodernity.
