The subject of the authors' reflections in the articles contained in this issue is the literary work of writers belonging to the generation referred to as the ‘1970s cohort’. This is a generation currently more or less in the middle of its creative journey. It is to descriptions of this path that the individual texts are devoted: either from a more personalised perspective (examining the writing of the authors in question), or from a more analytical one (interpreting their selected works). What emerges from the published works is a collective portrait of a certain literary generation – a synthetic characterisation of its role and significance in Polish culture of recent decades.
