Topics covered in the issue range from contemporary educational challenges to new perspectives in understanding and practising pedagogy. The issue includes in-depth theoretical analyses, empirical research findings and practical guidance on education.
One topic is the analysis of individual perceptions of the future of female education students. The results of a qualitative study reveal the aspirations, fears and dominant thinking patterns of young women studying education. Another article examines the functions of the mother tongue (L1) in the process of teaching English as a foreign language (L2) in a specific educational context. The analysis based on the experiences of teachers and students from Iraqi Kurdistan points to the benefits of using L1 in foreign language learning, such as better understanding of the material, it also reveals potential limitations. The author of the text on the cultural turn in literary theory points out its important implications for educational practice. She shows how the application of literary theory can enrich contemporary teaching by enabling a deeper understanding of literary texts in their broad cultural context.
The article on homeschooling co-operatives describes their role in children's socialisation, highlighting that homeschooling, often seen as limiting social contact, can in fact foster strong bonds in homeschooling communities. The analysis dispels stereotypes, demonstrating the importance of collaboration and community in this education system. An article on children's play as a form of creative cultural participation also brings an interesting perspective. The authors analyse the relationship between play, creativity and children's social participation, pointing to the key role of play in the formation of social skills and imagination.
Two relevant publications are discussed in the review section. One of the monographs presented deals with the topic of adolescent risk behaviours and prevention strategies, highlighting the importance of educational and media support in countering negative phenomena. The other is devoted to educational reforms; it addresses, among other things, the topic of school space as an element supporting the educational process.
