Omawia stawiane przez Ossowską fundamentalne pytania o naturę człowieka, jego zdolność do podejmowania decyzji moralnych oraz zmagania z etycznymi dylematami. Autor podkreśla wyraźne rozróżnienie, jakie badaczka wprowadzała między tym, co etyczne – oparte na normach i zasadach – a tym, co moralne, zakorzenione w indywidualnych przekonaniach i uczuciach.
